Review: Skirmish

Skirmish Magazine is the world’s leading multi-period historical re-enactment and living history magazine. Brought to you by a dedicated team for re-enactors, living historians and history enthusiasts around the world, we cover all periods in world history covering the last 3000 years.

Originally launched in 1999, bought by Dragoon Publishing in 2004 and more recently re-launched as the living history magazine in August 2006 by editor, Rachel C. Evans; we have grown from a 36 page black and white hobby magazine into a high quality, glossy, colour magazine. Now appealing to a world-wide audience with an avid interest in history and archaeology as well as their more well-known historical re-enactment and living history articles and photography.

Contents

The magazine’s feature articles focus on a cover story, followed by around 3 feature articles and interviews.

The 80-page magazine also includes reenactment news, color photography and features brief reviews of relevant books, movies and supplies.

Issues Reviewed

Skirmish 58, 59, and 60.

The Good

This is an excellent publication that is not only of extreme interest to history buffs and to reenactors and , the awesome color photography is an excellent resource to those who wargame.

It is absolutely worth every cent of the cover price. In all honesty, I’d be willing to pay £10 each issue for everything that I got out of this magazine.

The Bad

I thought it was slightly ad-heavy, but seeing as though this does keep the cover price down, it is an acceptable issue.

The Ugly

None.
