MLRS-News

We are pleased to announce that we have today published a reprint of “Insignia and Uniforms of the Local Defence Volunteers and the Home Guard 1940-1944 and 1952-1956″ by Jon Mills and Terry Carney. This is a first class record of the military heraldry of the LDV and the Home Guard, and also has details of personal equipment as issued and as worn.

We are also very pleased to announce that we have just signed a contract with the RAF Museum, Hendon, to reprint a selection of their considerable archive. We are already scanning and preparing the first 24 titles, and there are many more to come. This will not be simply a range of aircraft manuals, but will include historical narratives of all the WW2 campaigns in which the RAF was involved, technical manuals on radar, radio, guns, bombs and other stores, training manuals, operational details and a wealth of other material.

Much of the narrative material includes constant references to the ground situation, and from these narratives a great deal of extra knowledge is to be gained about the background of the land operations and various aspects of the conduct of the land war. Not all the material is complimentary to the pongos!

We will also be looking at the RAF in some detail, especially in its early years, and during the inter-war period. All in all we are extremely pleased to have been invited to take on the task, and expect to be able to bring all our readers a widened view of the First and Second World Wars as well as strategic overviews, intelligence reports (many of which have never been seen before) and much more.

With best wishes
