2008 Million Minute Family Challenge Results
A record-setting 1.4 million minutes (23,608 hours) of game-playing time was recorded during the 2008 Million Minute Family Challenge, which ran from September through December. Sponsored by game publisher Patch Products, the Million Minute Family Challenge is designed to encourage families and friends to play more games. Participants in the challenge record the number of minutes they spend playing games, and the Million Minute web site tracks them by group or family, and also by state. A total of 298 groups, clubs, classrooms and families logged game-playing minutes during the challenge, according to a press release. The top-performing group was the CSRA Gamers Association of Barnwell, South Carolina, which logged 188,640 minutes (3,144 hours).
This year, Missouri was the highest-scoring state, followed by Indiana, South Carolina, Washington and Pennsylvania. During the 2007 challenge, the top-playing states were Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. A total of 1.1 million minutes were logged.
