Spectrum Games to publish Wild West Cinema

Spectrum Games and game designer Dave Bezio have come to an agreement that will result in the company producing Bezio’s role-playing game, Wild West Cinema. Unlike most games of the genre, Wild West cinema pays less attention to historical accuracy and more attention to emulating the movies set in the American west during the latter half of the 1800s. Showdowns at high noon, saloon brawls, stagecoach chases, and all the other tropes of the westerns are well represented in Wild West Cinema.

Publisher Cynthia Celeste Miller comments: “After reading the Wild West Cinema manuscript, I fell in love with the game. Very seldom does a game knock me off my feet, but this one did. It has a certain old school feel, but also contains all the sensibilities that one would expect from a modern game. Furthermore, the manuscript just oozes flavor and makes you want to jump right in and run it. This game is going to be a wonderful addition to the Spectrum Games line-up.”

According to designer Dave Bezio, “I didn’t set out to design a Wild West game, I just sort of fell into it when I couldn’t find the right rule set for the type of fast paced games I wanted to run. I wanted something streamlined and simple that could be read quickly, understood by the GM on first read and taught to players and used effectively in a matter of minutes. But I also wanted something robust enough to handle the same things all those 300 page tomes of rules do…just with a lot less muss and fuss. In the end I had to design the game I wanted from the ground up. I’m proud of the results, and my gaming group certainly had a fun time playtesting the game, so by all accounts it’s a success. It’s my hopes that this game will end the search for other, likeminded people.”

The exact release date of Wild West Cinema has yet to be determined, but Spectrum Games hopes to have it available in time for the summer conventions. With the wrinting/design of Dave Bezio and the art of Scott Harshbarger, Spectrum is certain that fans of the westerns are going to thoroughly enjoy Wild West Cinema.
