40mm Greek Mythology Miniatures from Spartan
Neil from Spartan Games writes:
This is a quick introduction to show you our 40mm Greek Mythology miniatures. You will have seen some images on this Forum and our web site already, but this is a more formal introduction of our first 40mm range of minis.
Our plan is to roll out a number of miniature ranges, crossing several genres and scales, and the first one we picked on was Jason and Argonauts with a few other mythical additions thrown in for good measure. I’ve attached an image of our multi-part Argonaut minis and Sparti Skeletons (more commonly known as the Children of the Hydra) and you can also see Aeetes the Priest, King of Colchis. There is a lot more minis to follow.
We’re just finishing off the packaging for these miniatures and we will have them ready for sale shortly. The Argonauts are capable of being made into many, many combinations of pose and in addition to these standard figures there will be Jason himself and four other Greek Heroes. We currently have 15 different Sparti and as for monsters, well Cyclops and Minotaur are also sculpted. But this is just the start for this range.
I thought I would just add a few more lines of explanation to the images we posted over the weekend. It may help to keep things clear for you all when we are throwing information around.
1) Death or Glory is the name of a fast play set of skirmish rules we have developed. The rules span multiple time periods and genres. The book is standalone and will be supported by a series of genre/period specific books. The first of these books [working titles The Greeks] covers historical, mythical and legendary combat of the Greek period. Other books will include fantasy, French & Indian Wars, Dark Ages and so on.
2) Heroes of Myth and Legend is the over arching title of a series of miniature ranges. These ranges will encompass multiple scales, the first of which is a 40mm scale Greek Mythology range. Other sets of figures may be the same scale or smaller. With the Jason miniatures we elected for 40mm because of the characterisation we could get into the models, plus games do not require huge numbers of miniatures.
