Review: Charlie Battle – Plucky Young WW1 Tommy

Musketeer Miniatures was formed with the goal of using years of experience in figure sculpting and painting to create complete ranges of miniatures that wargamers want.

All the staff at Musketeer Miniatures are keen wargamers and modelers. They hope that their love for the hobby shows in the quality of their products.

They make a point of contacting other wargamers and historians whilst planning their ranges, and listen keenly to their ideas during the design and manufacture of each product.

They feel there is no point in producing pretty figures if they are inaccurate or of no use in a game.

Their figures are available in small packs, as they know gamers dislike wasting money on unnecessary surplus figures. Furthermore, they specifically produce the figures required by rules and army lists.

We are sure you will find this helpful when planning your next army.

The review sample sent was Charlie Battle – Plucky Young WW1 Tommy, cast in white metal. The miniature shipped in a small clear plastic bag.

About

Charlie Battle is a part of the Hazel’s Heroes line, a range of one-off figures that is aimed at those of us who just like to collect figures for painting rather than gaming. Hazel gives Bill a subject and he gets to do all the work and produce it for her!

For those of you not in the know, British soldiers have long been know as “Tommies” because when pay books were 1st issued in 1812 during the Peninsula campaign, soldiers were shown an example pay book in the name, “Private Thomas (Tommy) Atkins of the Grenadiers“.
Hence the nickname “Tommie” was born.

The Good

There was no cleaning to be done with this miniature aside from the basic clean-up with some washing-up liquid. There was no mold slippage.

Charlie Battle is a very nice miniature, armed with a Lewis Gun (a .303 cal Light Machine Gun) and dressed in the appropriate uniform of a WWI British soldier.

The Bad

None.

The Ugly
