Review: Hurk

Eolith Miniatures has been set up to produce high quality resin figures for painters, collectors and gamers. It’s also the new home for a few figures that Steve Buddle used to produce under the name Spyglass Miniatures. These were originally cast in metal but have now been lovingly remastered into resin.

Steve Buddle has been painting miniatures for over twenty years now and started sculpting them around ten years ago. He got my sculpting break working for Wargames Foundry and then went on to sculpt for Games Workshop, Dark Age Games, and many others. In 2003 he decided to break out on my own and set up Spyglass Miniatures to show the world his own personal miniatures ethos. Spyglass was a success in it’s time and he is immensely proud of it, but times change, and he recently decided to ‘rethink things’.

Eolith Miniatures is the result.

The review sample sent was a 27mm Hurk cast in resin. This miniature shipped in it’s own plastic bag and included a base.

The Good

I am guessing that Hurk is a companion to Selene (see her review). As he doesn’t have a “backstory”, as it were – it’s ultimately up to the painter or eventual gamer as to what he will be used as / for.

Other than standard washing up, there was no preparation needed. There were no mold defects or other visual problems that would prevent you from going directly to work.

While Hurk is scaled to (apparently) be the companion of Selene, his 27mm status does allow him to be used in other miniature lines.

The Bad

None.

The Ugly

None.

Scale:
54mm
Cost:
£7.50
