About Classic28 Scale
Classic28 is Mississinewa Miniatures’ name for the most popular size of miniature figurines commonly referred to as 25mm scale.
Calling them 25mm scale is a bit of a misnomer though since 25mm isn’t really a scale at all. A “scale” should be expressed in terms of a proportion such as “one to sixty”, “1/60th” or more commonly “1:60″ for example. The scale would determine the fraction of the original objects size that the model would be. Many miniatures companies products do not adhere to any real standards regarding scale. This has lead to an unfortunate situation in which 25mm models from one company are not always compatible with 25mm models from another company.
Classic28 is their attempt to define or redefine the 25mm scale for convenience and compatibility. Classic28 expressed as a proportion is 1/60th or 1:60. This is a rather convenient scale for most gaming maps as a 1″ square is equal to 5 scale feet. Given that 1 inch is equal to 5 scale feet, a 6 foot tall man in scale would measure, over all, 1.2 inches or approximately 30mm. A popular method of measuring miniature figurines has become the “toe to eye” measurement. In Classic28 scale, a scale 6 foot tall man would measure 28mm from toe to eye. Thus we can define Classic28 scale with these expressions that all essentially mean the same scale.
Classic28
- 1:60
- 1/60th
- 1 inch = 5 foot
- 25mm = 5 foot
- 30mm toe to top of head
- 28mm toe to eye
In order to help you determine whether or not our Classic28 scale is right for you, they will photograph their miniatures beside a scaling device. This device is marked at 6mm, 15mm, 25mm, 28mm 30mm, 35mm and 40mm with pointers extending from the markings. This should make it rather easy to get a more accurate idea of scale from the photos provided.
The Good
Who’d have thought it? Mississinewa Miniatures did! Tires are one of the most versatile pieces of terrain for so many different types of gaming, and these are a very cool and unique addition to their impressive lineup.
These miniatures are ready to go right out of the package, and only a brief administration of washing-up liquid is required, as they are covered rather liberally with a fine white powder.
