Ghoulash not a stew, game’s new intro video illustrates

The creators of GHOULASH: The Last Game on Earth have premiered a new video on the game’s website to introduce new players and the curious to the fun and excitement of the action/adventure game. “We invite everyone to drop by and check out the video,” said creator Mike Suchcicki. “In just under three minutes, it answers all the basic questions about the game — what it is and how it’s played — and also points out the basic difference between goulash, the Hungarian stew, and GHOULASH, the game.”

With the occasional tongue firmly in cheek, the fast-moving video describes Scenario Charts, the basic “game boards” of GHOULASH, as well as obstacles, wounds and how to fight a Ghoul. It’s the perfect introduction for new players, and is a great way for veteran players to explain and show off the game to friends and family.

GHOULASH is the world’s most compact RPG, a two-player strategy game played entirely on paper, using the specially designed Scenario Charts. Each scenario adds a different twist to the Basic Rules, such as ways to avoid obstacles, movement variations and additional traps. Charts are available in two ways, as downloadable PDFs, purchased at the site, or in pre-printed booklets ($4.95 each), which can be ordered at the site or purchased at local brick-and-mortar stores. All that is needed to play is a chart for each player and a pen or pencil.

The game is kind of a miniature dungeon crawl, with each player serving as the other’s GM. (It also has been compared to Battleship, in that each player hides obstacles from the other.)
