Review: Bailey Records’ "A Sorcerer’s Tale"

Bailey Records is owned by Bryan K. Borgman, a composer, producer and remixer, as well as a stay-at-home father of three beautiful girls, a husband of ten years and Director of Sales for Aberrant Games.

A Sorcerer’s Tale
Odds and Ends, Rarities & Remixes

A Sorcerer’s Tale was originally released in 2006 as a theme song for Unorthodox Sorcerers by The Le Games. This newly re-mastered mix is the second “single” from Odds and Ends, Rarities & Remixes (Bailey Records / May 5, 2009).

A Sorcerer’s Tale is the first song to appear in the official Mythic Universe catalog (fantasy / adventure music) from Bailey Records Composition and Sound Design.

The Good

The horns are well balanced with the drums and contribute to the overall pleasantly “soundtrack”-type sound. All of the song elements fit into a cohesive structure. The genre is clearly evident and the performance shows good musicianship.

Let’s take a look at the execution and its genre-defining role. It is evident that the performance is well delivered technically and artistically. I was unable to identify any instances of overdoing it.

It reminds me of some Star Wars bravado – ala John Williams. Overall, this is a very good track with some noticeable retro flavor. The ’80s sound is a good idea, and I think that gamers will find it quite appealing.

The Bad

None.

The Ugly

None.
