Peter Schweighofer Releases Free Pulp Adventures

Peter Schweighofer’s Griffon Publishing Studio recently released two free pulp adventures to promote his game supplements Heroes of Rura-Tonga and Pulp Egypt, all available exclusively from his e-storefront at YourGamesNow.com and linked through the Studio website at http://griffonpub.home.att.net. “These scenarios offer gamers an opportunity to preview the Heroes of Rura-Tonga and Pulp Egypt settings for free,” Schweighofer said. “They can easily customize them for use with their favorite game system.”

In PBY SOS, a four-page adventure outline based on the Heroes of Rura-Tonga setting, the heroes intercept a radio distress signal from a US Navy flying boat nearby. When they land on an uncharted island to investigate, they stumble upon a villainous plot to steal secret military technology and sell it to America’s enemies.

The Compass of Amun-Re introduces readers to all aspects of gaming in Pulp Egypt from ancient ruins and arcane magic to desert expeditions and Nazi conspiracies. As members of an archaeological expedition, the characters agree to investigate rumors of an artifact in the ruins at Siwa Oasis, a fabled “compass” supposedly leading to an ancient Persian army lost in the desert. After dodging competitors and a secret society intent on protecting the relic, the heroes follow the compass into the desert. The horrors they uncover in the sands arouse the interest of both ambitious Nazis and a vengeful Egyptian god. This 16-page adventure also includes maps, pre-generated characters, and a copy of the Any-System Key for easy reference.

Gamers can easily adapt these Any-System Key adventures to their favorite roleplaying game rules. The Any-System Key describes character skills and task difficulties in terms that easily translate into nearly any game system. These terms do not link to any one game engine, but serve as general guidelines to give readers an overall sense how they fit within their own game’s stat and difficulty scale. Both free scenarios include a copy of the Any-System Key, or gamers can download it at http://griffonpub.home.att.net/NESys.html.

Schweighofer founded Griffon Publishing Studio as a means to market his own sourcebooks and games to the adventure gaming hobby. Known for writing and editing numerous Star Wars roleplaying game products for West End Games, he has designed such period sourcebooks as Weird War II: Afrika Korpse for Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Weird Wars series and the Raiders of the Lost Ark Sourcebook for West End Games’ Indiana Jones roleplaying game.
