Geekgasm: Gamesday 2010
Gamesworkshop (GW), the parent company of Forgeworld, the Black Library, and producers of the tabletop strategy game I play called Warhammer 40K hosted Gamesday in Baltimore and it was amazing…grown men, a few kids, and lots of plastic crack. But instead of words I’ll let pictures do the work…enjoy.
There were speed painting competitions, build your own terrain, conversion contests, standard painting competitions, banner competitions, coloring competitions, about 50 club tables, and multiple Big Game Tables for 40K, Fantasy, and LotR (Lord of the Rings). Cosplay was a given at an event like this…
Dioramas were possibly the coolest part for me as i love modeling.
The monstrous Red Orktober ork space hulk made an appearance…
There were life sized marines, carnival games, lots of shopping, pen and paper RPG’s set in the warhammer fantasy and 40k story lines, as well as the alternate board games GW and its subsidiaries make, and there were demo’s for the upcoming Ultramarine movie and online gaming modules for Dawn of War 2, and the upcoming Space Marine console game.
For all you LotR fans…
A couple of club gaming tables
There were remote controlled super heavy tanks you could drive around and the Golden Daemon Painting Championships…
At the end of the day and an early bus ride to Baltimore we came away with stuff we built, stuff we won, and stuff we stole…
Now for some good beer and diner…thanks Baltimore, you’ve been good to us…

Not a miniatures guy….but this stuff looks AWESOME.
it was amazing some of the stuff regardless of if you play or not…crazy
Thanks so much for the great pics – they are the best I have seen so far this weekend.
I’d like to hear some impressions about what you thought about the new Ultramarines trailer – and if you’ve heard anything about an actual street date for Deathwatch (October, still?).
That is one… err… tall Tau.
Some concept art for UM is in the link below, enjoy the pics… http://s986.photobucket.com/albums/ae347/therealjohnny5/Games%20Day%202010/
I didn’t catch a street date for DW. Overall i think UM is going to rock. It looks pretty promising, without actually giving you enough to promise anything..lol. but all in all looks like it’llbe solid. so does the Space Marine game coming up…
