WROCK: Why it’s awesome, and why you’ve never heard of it.

So, I’m Carmen.  I’ve been lurking on Geekcentricity for awhile but haven’t taken the time to write anything.  I figured I should probably start, so here’s my first post!  It’s just a quickie (har har).

In July, three of my friends and I decided it would be a great idea to take a two-day trip to North Carolina to go to two multi-band concerts.  I can pretty much guarantee you’ve never heard of these bands, and even after you read this, you probably won’t care enough about them to look up their music.  IT’S OKAY, I’LL PROVIDE LINKS FOR YOU, YOU LAZY BASTARDS.

The point is, these are wizard rock bands.  Wizard rock as in rock music that has to do with Harry Potter.  It sounds funny, but I’m totally serious.  The first concert consisted of the Blibbering Humdingers (a husband-wife band local to Apex, NC), the Parselmouths (a two girl band from Seattle, WA), the Moaning Myrtles (also a two girl band, but they’re from Hillsborough, NJ), the Whomping Willows (a band consisting of one member, a tree named Matt Maggiacomo from Woonsocket, RI), Justin Finch-Fletchley (a non-plural one man band from Providence, RI), and ALL CAPS (A ridiculous matchup powerhouse of one of the girls from the Parselmouths and one of the guys from the Ministry of Magic that are dating.  They actually don’t sing HP songs, just nerdy songs about World of Warcraft, robots, and zombies.  It’s adorable, really.).  I strongly suggest you check them out.  Be warned, though, the quality isn’t all that great on some of the songs/videos.  These bands are all unsigned and usually record in the comfort of their own homes, which is why you’ve never heard of them.

My recommendations:

ALL CAPS: “Summer of ’09”, “Don’t Unplug Me

the Ministry of Magic: “Snape vs. Snape

the Whomping Willows: “In Which Draco and Harry Secretly Want To Make Out

the Moaning Myrtles: “And Then I Died

Okay, you guys, I promise I’ll keep the OMGHARRYPOTTERFANGIRL posts to a bare minimum.  I just thought I’d share these gems with the public.
