Free Form Friday: Call Me Ishmael

"Call me Ishmael."

Welcome to the first edition of Free Form Friday here at Geekcentricity.

Every time I talk to The Grand Geek, he’s always going on and on about this Bullet Storm game.  Looks pretty great…made by those Gears of War fellows.  As Darren’s day job is in the video game retail industry, I’m beginning to suspect that he’s pushing the hype machine for his own nefarious means.

Enough with the chatter, let’s get on with it.

Ryan Tenney asked:

What was Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s ship prior to the Enterprise?

Star Trek purists may believe that the Stargazer was Picard’s first love, but this is folly.  His first ship was ACTUALLY the Pequod. Look at that picture up there.  It’s awesome.  Coincidentally, when Jean-Luc Picard was in command of the Pequod, he was like 2nd or 3rd generation early American, so his British accent was acceptable.  He became French prior to taking command of the Enterprise, yet the accent remained.  Spookyvision.

Tarteman13 asked:

Which Green Lantern was never part of the Justice League?

MY Green Lantern.  The one I intend to create in DC Universe Online.  Seriously, screw those cats  They think they’re awesome just because they have a stupid moon-base.  The JLA are the kind of jerks who would dump dog food on the fake prom queen.  Not cool guys, not cool.

Nick Bender “Bending” Rodriguez asked:

Strategy guides; cheating or helping?

Cheating usually involves codes, exploits, complex button sequences, and using the second controller so you can get the “Flawless Victory” achievement in Super Street Fighter 4.  Cheating does NOT involve wasting 4 days of your life trying to figure out that damn clock puzzle in ZoZo in Final Fantasy 6, when a quick pop to the internet would have saved you a lot of time and a broken controller. Strategy guides = Helpful

TheREALJohnny5 asked:

What’s your favorite character type in WoW?

My favorite character types are any that are controlled by a competent player.  But in all seriousness, I play a paladin.  I like the idea of a paladin; the simplicity of an awesome melee fighter with healing power survivability mixed in.  I usually favor melee classes in all my games, this probably stems back to my old fear of picking and managing Spells-Per-Day old D&D style.  To much work. I’d rather just hit the bad guy with something pointy.

DaneOfWar asked:

I was afraid this might happen.

What?  What might happen?  Obviously it HAS happened, so your fears were justified, but that still doesn’t answer my question.  Yes, THAT was a question, see that question mark?  The little squiggly with the dot?  What you sent, SIR, was a statement.  I was afraid THAT might happen.  What do you think of that?

That’s it for today’s entry. If you would like your question answered by the Geekcentricity crew, leave it in the comments below and look for it in a future edition of Free Form Friday.
