The 10 Hottest Geek Babes on TV

There is little in this world hotter than geek babes.

And I don’t mean “faux geek” babes – which are hot girls that are paid to act like they are geeks but don’t really fool anyone (Olivia Munn, Jessica Chobot and Morgan Webb to name a few). I mean genuinely hot girls who are paid to act like they are geeks and we know that it is an act.

Let’s face it – despite what people may try to tell you – geeks, as a general rule, are not sexy (say, now there’s a good name for a website). Sure, there are exceptions to the rule; like Felicia Day, Danica McKellar, and Kari Byron, but overall the sexiness factor is rather lacking when it comes to true geeks.

So when faced with an honest lack of “real world” geek babes, we turn to the good old boob tube. And this, dear reader, is what this article is all about. No scientific research went into this list whatsoever. It’s all personal preference – so feel free to rant and rave about how wrong I am in the comments section. I’ll get over it.

Here at Geekcentricity, we’ve always appreciated the weird and the quirky. Combine that with my appreciation for babes, and you get a spicy cocktail of hotness and brains. So embrace your geekness and check out who made my list of the the 10 hottest geek babes on TV.

Abigail “Abby” Sciuto from NCIS – Played by Pauley Perrette

About Abby: Abby is a forensic specialist at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service headquarters at the Washington Naval Yard and demonstrates mastery in a large number of areas of criminalistics, including ballistics, digital forensics, and DNA analysis. She’s best described as a paradox wrapped in an oxymoron smothered in contradictions in terms. Sleeps in a coffin. Really, the happiest goth you’ll ever meet.

About Pauley: Pauley Perrette (born March 27, 1969) is an American actress. She is also a published writer, former lead singer and civil rights advocate. She attended Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia where she studied forensics.

Why she’s here: You’re kidding me, right? Sexy goth girl? Yes, please.

Claudia Donovan from Warehouse 13 – Played by Allison Scagliotti

Scagliotti has had various small television roles during her career including stints on Zoey 101, One Tree Hill, and CSI although she is better recognized as Mindy Crenshaw on the Nickelodeon series Drake & Josh.

Why she’s here: Allison is what I call a “classic” beauty – she’d not look out of place in the 1920s. I expect big things from her.

Myka Ophelia Bering from Warehouse 13 – Played by Joanne Kelly

About Myka: Socially inept, she has more book smarts than street ones and a keen eye for detail as well as a photographic memory. She takes her job very seriously and frequently clashes with her partner Pete. Myka has a troubled relationship with her father, who owns a bookshop where she spent much of her childhood.

About Joanne: Joanne Kelly (born 1978 in Bay d’Espoir, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada) is a Canadian actress. She attended Acadia University in Nova Scotia. Her first movie role was the 2002 movie The Bay of Love and Sorrows. From 2003 to 2004 she played Libby on the J. Michael Straczynski series Jeremiah on Showtime. She also played the role of Sara Collins in Fox’s Vanished and the vampire Bianca in SciFi’s The Dresden Files. Her breakout role was in the film Going the Distance.

Why she’s here: Joanne gets better looking every single year. She is a fun, smart, and funny woman who would undoubtedly look good wearing a sack.

Astrid Farnsworth from Fringe – Played by Jasika Nicole

About Astrid: FBI Junior Agent who serves as Olivia’s assistant. She is stationed in the lab with Walter, who can never remember her name (e.g. calling her “Asterisk”, “Aspirin”, “Asteroid”, etc.). Though her work is mostly clerical, she has a number of skills which come in handy during their cases; cryptanalysis, knowledge of Latin, linguistics, computer hacking, and so forth.

About Jasika: An American actress and illustrator from Birmingham, Alabama. Nicole studied dance, voice and theater at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina. She has been open about being a lesbian since she started dating women while she was filming Take the Lead.

Why she’s here: Jasika is gorgeous, right? She’s got features that look like they were carved from marble.

Jaime King – The voice of Aurra Sing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

About Aurra: Aurra Sing, also known as Nashtah, was once a female Jedi Padawan, but following a series of tragedies and misfortunes, she left the Jedi Order to become a vicious bounty hunter specializing in Jedi and political assassinations. She has gone on to appear as a lead in various other films, gaining more note after Sin City (2005).

Why she’s here: Okay – with Jaime, I’m kinda cheating. She’s just doing voice-overs for a character that she looks nothing like. But she is sexy as hell, and it is my list.

“Gossip Girl” from Gossip Girl – Voiced by Kristen Bell

About “Gossip Girl”: The narrator of the series, who begins the recap with the sentence “Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite,” and ends the recap with whispered voices saying “Where has she been?” “Serena” then the voice of Gossip Girl says: “And who am I? About Kristen: Kristen Anne Bell (born July 18, 1980) is an American actress. In 2001, she made her Broadway debut as Becky Thatcher in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. After moving to Los Angeles, Bell landed various television guest appearances and small film parts before appearing in a lead role in the David Mamet film Spartan. She gained fame as the title role on the critically acclaimed television series Veronica Mars from September 2004 to May 2007. Bell has strabismus, which affects her right eye. She inherited it from her mother, who had it corrected as a child. Bell claims that if she does not get enough sleep, it aggravates the ailment. She calls her right eye “Wonky”.

Why she’s here: Kristen has (excuse my vulgarity) an ass that countries would go to war over. And I love that wonky eye, too.

Why she’s here: Karen is smoking hot. That thing she does with the pouting-smirking-eyes-a-bit-wide? That gorgeous red hair? That accent? And those legs?

Anyway – that’s the list. Have at it!

Some/most of these characters are a huge stretch to call geeks. I mean, Penny?? The writers may as well have just given her a blinking sign the size of a billboard floating over her head which says “NOT A GEEK” and called it a day, instead of all the heavy-handed writing (also, that probably would have been funnier). If Penny counts, then I find it hard to believe that there’s no real-world geek babes. Seriously, there are no real world women as geeky as Penny who you find hot?

Beyond that, talking about geek babes by itself is a really good way to scare off actual geek women (some of whom you personally may find hot). Talking about “geek babes” and including characters like Penny is even worse. It makes it really, really clear where the emphasis is (hint: not the geek part), and people who want to do geeky things tend to want to do them with people who will treat them kind of like equals, not eye candy (or pathetic failures at being eye candy, depending on your personal assessment of their hotness). Because, eww, why are you busy assessing my hotness instead of playing the freaking game like the rest of us?

I am sure you’re not a bad guy, but if you’re going to be offensive, at least do it right (and pick characters who actually remotely meet the criteria). Or, call it “List of people this one geek happens to find really hot, who are all women, because hey, I am a straight dude.” And then we can all make our own lists, and agree that on the whole actors and actresses are way hotter than average people, and probably there will be puppies and rainbows and ice cream (and soy ice cream too, because some of us are vegan). My list will include at least three actors/actresses who have appeared in Torchwood. Feel free to guess which ones.

    • Brian says:

Calling Penny not a geek? I’m guessing you’ve never seen the show. ;) Aside from the reasons she counts as a geek that I did mention, she would have to be a geek in order to actually hang out with the other four.

And in my own defense, I did write “No scientific research went into this list whatsoever. It’s all personal preference”.

And no, I’m not a bad guy. I will indeed work harder to be more offensive next time, though. ;) Seriously – if Torchwood was currently on the air, I would have had several of the cast.

Sorry that the article wasn’t your cup of tea – but thanks all the same for commenting.

  3. Dan says:

Sorry Adam, whilst some of your Geek Babes seem spot on, others seem like you are grasping at straws :)

Where is Felicia Day from the Guild, Buffy, Doll House, Dr Horrible’s Sing along Fame ?

Felicia plays video games, appears at Comic Conss, double majored in Mathematics and Music, turned down a place at Juilliard and is a National Merit Scholar.

    • Brian says:

*Looks around* Who is Adam? I’m Brian. No Adam here. :)

I actually did mention Felicia in the beginning of the article. But my “criteria”, if you want to call it that, was TV shows that are currently on. And sadly, she has none – and the bit roles she has had still wouldn’t qualify here here.

If I ever do a general “geek girls” article, I promise you she’ll be featured.

  4. Eddie says:

OK, given that for many of these it is rather a stretch to think of either the actress or their character as a geek, I realize that if you make a list you have to put someone in the list, or it’s not a list, it’s a blank page, so I’ll let you pass except for Jaime King. Not only does she only voice the character, and it doesn’t look like her, but the character is a bad-ass bounty-hunting killer, and not even remotely geeky. In fact, that’s pretty much the opposite of a geek. The fact that geeks watch the show wasn’t a criteria. She doesn’t qualify. Just be honest and call the list 9 geek babes plus Jaime King because I wanted to show her picture (which is a perfectly acceptable reason to add her to the list, but it’s like an “honorary” college degree – she didn’t actually do anything to earn it)
