TV Time: The IT Crowd

Ok, so if you’re at least a moderately functioning geek, you know a bit about techy stuff.  And one thing every self-respecting geek knows to do when things aren’t quite working right, turn it off and on again.  Well the catch phrase certainly makes its appearances in the first episode and throughout the seasons of this British show.

The IT Crowd is about three socially inept miscreants, surviving by avoiding work in the basement of the large Reynholm Industries.  The show stars Chris O’Dowd as the Irish slacker Roy, Richard Ayoade as the genius Moss, Jen Parkinson as the desperate and high strung Jen, and Matt Berry as womanizing company president Douglas.  The combination of slapstick comedy, witty dialogue, and quirky deliveries makes the show instantly endearing and hysterical.

The show is still going strong over on Channel 4 in the UK.  In the US it’s available streaming on Netflix if you’re a subscriber of their film viewing goodness, and if you’re not you should be ashamed.  Maybe dock yourself some allowance, then go remedy the situation by signing up.  Ok now that you don’t have money to go out with your friends tonight and get beers at the pub, sit on your couch and tune into this show…now….

Ok now that we have that settled, you’re in for some good viewing.  The IT Crowd has run so far for 4 seasons with 6 episodes each. My friends and I are eagerly awaiting season 5 to release in the US.  And that’s something you should know about British shows over American, they have typically shorter seasons than we yanks do.  Just like their cars are smaller and ours are bigger, and their taxes are lower…unless you’re a Danish GC writer named Brian, sorry about that bro… Anyway this show has everything, flaming bras, D&D, Goth, butt pictures, flaming televisions, great shirts, trivia, and burning buildings.  What’s not to like!

Told you there were flaming bras...

Do yourself a favor and go watch this right now!
