What’s Going On: Netflix Makes TV, Call of Duty MW 3, Windows 8 Gets Touchy
Ok a few tidbits of info incase you’ve been living under a rock for a few weeks, or just without internet because you’ve been patiently waiting for those bastards at Time Warner to come set up your biz-nass. Let’s dive in by order of oldest to newest goodies:
1) Netflix is back in the business of a content production. What does that mean you ask? Well, our homeboys over at Netflix are going to throwing some of their 20 million customer based muscle against Hollywood with the production of all new series content based on subscriber favorites. Check out more here. One more nail in the coffin of traditional content access. Hello TV 2.0.
2) There’s nothing really new with Steven Spielberg’s live action remake of the anime masterpiece Ghost in the Shell by Shirow Masamune. Most recent updates state the film to be “still in production” so I guess that’s a good thing. Last major change in things was the decision to bring Laeta Kalogridis, scriptwriter for Scorsese’s Shutter Island, in to take over duties. Here’s to hoping this will actually see the light of day like similar anime masterpiece AKIRA is supposed to being backed by Di Caprio’s production company.
3) November 8th. That’s all the info you fellow gamers need. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by Infinity Ward back on the scene will be here this winter, just in time to ruin our entire wife and girlfriend’s Christmases. If you haven’t seen the trailer…shame on you fanboy…here, I’ll help you not look so bad…and while you’re at it, check out CoD: Elite
4) And finally a bit of information not at all near and dear to my heart as I sit hammering this out on a Macbook, but of interest to many of our readers (see I hear what you like and I listen, aren’t I nice? You can send me bottles of scotch in thanks, or aged rum.), Windows 8 is a multi-platform OS. It will function like windows and “everything just runs” (when it works at all) but will also run an app like sub feature allowing it to work on touch devices, such as tablets and mobile devices.
And of course then there’s that dope D&D demo they did awhile back…
