The Tinfoil Hat Movie Club
I really believe that deep down, everybody loves a good conspiracy theory. Growing up I could be found glued to the television when Unsolved Mysteries or That’s Incredible was on. UFO’s, unsolved deaths, crop circles, I loved it all.
I still find enjoyment in reading about conspiracies and mysteries, but for me, it is mostly just fun and all taken with a grain of salt. Most are unproven, unprovable or plain wrong, but I’ve personally never been able to understand the point of view that all conspiracy theories are some kind of deluded, paranoid fantasy simply because they involve conspiracy.
And at the end of the day, I can understand why the conspiracy theorists might at least be asking hard questions. After all, without hard questions, what do governments need fear?
I like using these sorts of things as plot hooks or storyline matter in my roleplaying sessions – and the wackier they are, the better.
At any rate – I’ve collected a nice selection of conspiracy-type films found online at YouTube and Google Video. Check some of them out! And keep an open mind… regardless of what you may personally feel about the subject matter, you may come up with some great plot inspiration.
