Dragon Age: Redemption – Webseries by Felicia Day
Okay guys and girls, in case you’re incompetent on this thing we geekster types call “teh interwebz,” Felecia Day, female geek icon, actress, web series writer, and (based on my twitter observations) a real regular person, released yesterday part one of the much anticipated web mini series Dragon Age: Redemption. The series, accompanied by some supposedly epic DLC for Dragon Age 2 on both Xbox and PSN, follows the elven assassin Tallis (Day) as she does what assassins do. The first episode follows much of the same texture that Day has become known for from her well known series The Guild, which we reviewed here, in case you missed it the first time…and if you did, you should be ashamed…I mean seriously what else do you do with your time if not research awesome web series during business hours?
There’s humor, a slight tongue-in-cheek toss here and there, but Redemption gives you plenty of good action. SPOILER: the ending is great when Day’s character slits the throat of an escaped convict after gaining the information she needed. Like I said before, she does what assassins do.We get to see the Qunari, a Templar, a rogue mage, and hear the familiar name of Androste. So all the great fluff that makes Dragon Age so good is there. Loads of props to Felicia Day for continuing the web content revolution as this project had the backing of Xbox, EA, and Bioware.
My only beef with the episode was the lame templar armor. I mean doesn’t anyone in the production team know someone who’s a part of the SCA, or a hardcore LARPer? I mean I’d have loaned them my suit of armor if I had known they’d need one…um…not that I have any armor…they’re really just high quality mantle decoration reproduced to exact specifications and constructed of appropriately rigid metals I swear…sure some might call that armor, but seriously who keeps armor lying around their house….
So since you’re not actually doing anything at work right now, go over and check out the episode here. And subscribe while you’re at it. Trust me, you’ll thank me later…if you’re nice. I like whiskey. Just sayin.
