New York Comic Con – Opening Night

Well we’re back from the con after a stop for cocktails at our beloved spot here in NYC. Opening night was loads of fun even if there was a delay for part of the access for the con. It’s very interesting to see how NYCC has grown from last year to this year. Last I heard the head count was estimated to hit 77,000 over the weekend.  The amount of 4 day ticket holders was impressive to me as well. I really expected the floors to be pretty naked except for press and VIP’s. But over all opening night went well. Be on the look out for upcoming interviews and reviews from NYCC exhibiters.

And I’ll leave you with a few thoughts before I get to pictures: First, loads of films are being shown this year, Boy Wonder, The Walking Dead, South Park, Zombie Apocalypse, numerous shorts and animated films. Second, video games have taken a huge bump in presence, and heavy hitters at that, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the Darkness 2, Max Payne 3, and other titles. Third, non-comic oriented attendees were heavy (Felicia Day, Rooster Teeth, fashion vendors, book publishers, etc). So there are some initial observations about New York Comic Con, now to a few pics…
