Hidden within the covers of innocuous books, written in fire on pages of brass, uttered in ancient tongues on mysterious recordings — the power of the Supernal can be trapped in physical form. For those who unlock the secrets of the grimoires, great majesty and great peril await.
Grimoire of Grimoires includes:
• 18 new grimoires offering great power and great danger
• New spells, legacies and blessings conferred by these works of power
• Peculiar new grimoire forms, from a popular fantasy series to a black metal album
A Chronicle Book for Mage: The Awakening™
First Thoughts
As I’ve said before, I’m not a Mage fan – but I am a sucker for sourcebooks. This one looked to be very entertaining, and I was not disappointed at all.
The Good
The book is filled with lots of story seeds and plot ideas for your Mage game, featuring mystical tomes that can be used as the center point of your stories. It also provides several handy sample Rotes and spells for players to use. And of course – very pretty artwork.
The Bad
Like many of White Wolf’s products, they are a group effort. The writing style ranges from excellent to fair throughout the book. I’d also have liked more technomancy than I got.
The Ugly
None.
It’s Time to Play The Game
Grimoire of Grimoirs is a truly excellent sourcebook on magical books for Mage. All the books are very interesting and filled with quite creepy things that you’ll find very adaptable for other lines.
