About Darren
I am a writer, musician, gamer and life-long geek.
My first video game console was a Magnavox Odyssey and my first computer was a Commodore Vic 20. My favorite game on the Vic was a text-based RPG called Adventureland. I got many hours of enjoyment from that game and spent countless hours designing text-based RPG’s with my friends because of it. I was the first person in line at my local Wal-Mart when the Nintendo Entertainment System was released. Now, I have an XBox 360.
I started playing Dungeons & Dragons in 1981 when a group of kids at school picked up the game and needed a Dungeon Master. I’ve been playing (usually running) various types of role-playing games ever since. My initials are even DM. If you ignore my first name, my initials are GM. I figure it’s destiny.
As if my predilection for gaming were not enough, I was a band geek all through middle school, high school, college, and for fourteen years after I graduated from college. Seriously, I taught high school band. One time, at band camp… Never mind, you don’t want to know.
I won my first writing contest in 5th grade. I entered a state-wide contest, won, and got to meet the Lieutenant Governor. I have no idea what my story was about.
I now live in South Carolina with my wife and our two Siberian Huskies.
