About Alok

The details of my life are quite inconsequential. No, I was not beat up inside of a burlap bag and no, my testicles were not regularly shaven but early on, I developed an intense interest in many things scientific, philosophic and, of course, fantastic. As one might expect, my geek childhood was nurtured by Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Saturday morning cartoons, Saturday afternoon Kung Fu movies and all manner of 1980′s horror/scifi movie classics and their sequels such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th, Thing, Robocop, Predator, Aliens and Conan The Barbarian.

Comics books similarly played a critical role in my upbringing including a near suspension for selling blow pops and bubble gum in school to pay for the first appearance of Wolverine in the Incredible Hulk (didn’t raise enough unfortunately). As I grew and unearthed more gems from the geek treasure trove, it was inevitable that I would eventually transform my enthusiasm to the written word to share with other fellow geeks.

Most conversations bore me (I actually practice at social inadequacy). However, if you so much as even slightly mention the words “Twilight Zone” in a sentence, I’m all over you like bees on Winnie the Pooh. Many people have a hard time understanding this but good geek conversation is like food to me. It’s literally what my mind eats. And, unfortunately, I, like many other geeks, walk around famished for a long time. So, for me, this is a great opportunity to continue the nurture and nourishment which began so many years ago as a child.
